California requires employers to provide specific workplace training on topics ranging from sexual harassment prevention to workplace violence. These are not optional, and non-compliance carries real consequences, including regulatory penalties, increased legal liability, and weakened defenses in employment disputes.
At the Law Office of Catherine Chukwueke, I offer attorney-led workplace training that is legally compliant, practical, and tailored to your workplace.
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
California law requires all employers with five or more employees to provide sexual harassment prevention training. Requirements are as follows:
- Supervisory employees: two hours every two years, and within six months of hire or promotion
- Non-supervisory employees: one hour every two years, and within six months of hire
- Seasonal and temporary workers: within 30 calendar days of hire or 100 hours worked, whichever comes first
Training covers definitions of unlawful harassment under FEHA and Title VII, practical examples and bystander intervention, internal complaint procedures, abusive conduct and retaliation prevention, and harassment based on gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. Each participant receives a certificate of completion.
Additional Training Programs
- Supervisor harassment, discrimination, and retaliation prevention
- Workplace violence prevention under SB 553, required as of July 1, 2024
- Hazard communication and SDS awareness
- Emergency action plan and fire prevention
- Injury and illness prevention program
- Heat illness prevention for outdoor workers
- Active shooter and emergency response preparedness
Why Attorney-Led Training?
Training delivered by a licensed California employment attorney ensures that all legal requirements are met accurately, that employer liability risks are addressed directly, and that real-time legal questions can be answered on the spot. I also tailor training to your specific industry and workplace, rather than delivering a generic program that may not reflect your actual situation.
Training is available remotely via Zoom or in person at your workplace.
